Some of my work intervenes in public spaces: a traditional mural, legal and/or illegal wheatpasting, installations, and site-specific or time-based performances.
Personal Service Announcement existed as a website where anyone could submit a message to the United States government of up to 140 characters. I turned each message submitted into a hand painted sign on cardboard. On three separate occasions – just prior to the 2012 presidential election, just after the election, and just before the January inauguration – I marched each sign in the street at the North Gate of the White House, the area traditionally (and still) used to stage protests. A photographer documented each performance and the project now lives as a photographic archive at Personal Service Announcement.
I also write and distribute manifestos, such as this one: Manifesto for Community Arts.
